This was a walk through the downtown area of Lebanon. There are some small parks, including Colburn Park, which servers as the town green. There are also shops and restaurants, city hall and the public library. The downtown area is small and walkable, with some nice views of the surrounding mountains. There's a small plaza with access to both the Mascoma River Greenway and the Northern Rail Trail nearby. We checked out both of those trails next, starting with the Mascoma River Greenway.

This is a paved trail that runs west from the downtown area of Lebanon along the Mascoma River. The trail is flat and easy, with some nice views of the river. The highlight of the trail is the tunnel with the artwork. Just beyond the tunnel is a bridge that offers really nice views of the water rushing down the river. We waled about a mile down the trail to the parking area off Mascoma Street, and then turned around and headed back to check out the Northern Rail Trail.

This is the start of the 59 mile Northern Rail Trail that runs from Lebanon southeast to Boscawen. The trail is paved for the first mile or so, and then turns to packed gravel after the first bridge. We had already walked a bit through the downtown area and the Mascoma River Greenway, so we just walked to the first bridge and back, wrapping up our nice evening visit to Lebanon.
