Jerimoth Hill

Date visited: 7/8/2022

Evidently, there is a thing called the "Highpointers Club". It is an elite club of people who have climbed to the highest point in all 50 states. This is the highest point in Rhode Island. I only have 49 more to go I guess! Actually, there wasn't much of climb at all. The high point in Rhode Island is only 812 feet and it's just over the Connecticut border. There is a very short trail that leads from the trailhead on Rt. 101 to the highpoint. The trail itself is practically flat. Your car did all the work driving up the hill to get there! This must be the easiest state for the Highpointers! We signed the guest book at the high point. There are also some weird structures at the spot as well.

Ram Tail Trail

Date visited: 4/2/2023

This is a short but sweet trail. It is very well maintained by the Foster Land Trust. It starts behind a cemetery on Ram Trail Road (hence the name of the trail), and runs for about a half mile before it reaches a river. It looks like there used to be a bridge of some sort, because you can see a trail continuing on the other side. But now it just ends, and the word "end" is even written on the tree. The land surrounding the land trust property is owned by Providence Water and is not open to visitors, but at least there is this space available to enjoy.

Simmons Corner

Date visited: 12/2/2023

This is the site of the Foster Farmer's Market, on the corner of US-6 and RI-94. This time of year, there is a large, lighted Christmas Tree here. Since I had the Santa hats in the car, I thought maybe I could get a good picture of the dogs here. The idea was better than the execution. It's hard to tell that's a tree behind them when it's this dark.

Spencer Property - Foster Land Trust

Date visited: 7/24/2025

This Foster Land Trust property features a wide trail that leads out to Spencer Pond. The yellow blazed trail is known as the Ponaganset River Trail. The trail was great, until it wasn't. About a half mile past the pond, the trail becomes increasingly overgrown. We eventually couldn't continue any further and had to turn around. Some trails loop back around, but those were overgrown as well. The maintained portions are nice. It's just too bad that the rest of it wasn't that accessible.

Borders Farm

Date visited: 6/2/2026

The trails here had a little bit of everything. There was bugs, ticks, mud, poison ivy, and some overgrown sections...all the reasons why I've been avoiding wooded trails of late. I'm making this sound worse than it was. This was actually a pretty nice walk. While there was a bit of everything I mentioned, it wasn't too bad. The trails were mostly wide and well maintained. We hiked the "Red Trail to Yellow Trail Loop" from the All-Trails app. About a third of that route was along some roads, but I think only one car passed while we on the road section. We also hiked some additional trails around the farm to get a few more steps. My favorite part was when we passed the cows, who all stared at the camera while I was taking their photo with the dogs!
