Notes (****): Carly Rae Jepsen—yes, her of "Call Me Maybe" fame—released this, her fifth main album, on 21 Oct 2022 (which Taylor Swift later also picked for the release of Midnights). It's an enjoyable set of songs about relationships: new relationships, relationships ending. On track (3), the third single, Jepsen worked with Captain Cuts, i.e. Ben Berger and Ryan Rabin. You can hear the Captain Cuts influence in its echoey, club sound, while the lyrics hark back to Jepsen's "E•MO•TION" from the album of the same name. Ryan is Trevor Rabin's son, and he presumably pulled Trevor in for the guitar part. The track has a short, but very tasty guitar solo and you can hear that it's Trevor.

The album appears to have been recorded mainly over the COVID-19 lockdown of the first half of 2020. (8) was released as the lead single on 6 May 2022, followed by (6) on 5 Aug, (3) on 16 Sep and (13) on 7 Oct (which included (3) among its b-sides).

The album made #16 in the UK, #18 in Canada, #19 in the US, #37 in New Zealand, #52 in Japan (#33 in digital albums), #61 in Ireland, #62 in Australia, and #180 in both Flanders and Wallonia (Belgium). It also made #39 on the German digital chart. "Talking to Yourself" made #91 on the UK iTunes chart. (HP, 2 Nov 22)
