Notes (***): Later an actress, including being a Bond Girl, Munro
released this, the first of several singles, in 1967, when she was
18. Both sides can be found online and I've pieced together
information about the release. The instrumentalists aren't credited,
but reputedly her backing band for the session were Cream and Steve
Howe, organised by Mark Wirtz, for whom Howe did several sessions.
(1) is adapted from Adriano Celentano's 1966 song in Italian, "Il
Ragazzo Della via Gluck": music by Celentano and lyrics by Luciano
Beretta and Michele Del Prete. It was first performed in English in
1966 by Verdelle Smith, where it was credited to
Vance/Pockriss/Beretta/Del Prete/Celentano. On the demonstration
record for Munro's release, (1) is listed as just "Tar and Cement"
and credited to Vance/Pockriss alone. (2) is an adaptation of the
1930s song "Sporting Life Blues", actually by Sonny Terry and
Brownie McGhee.
(2) was later released on 2001's compilation Dream Babes Volume
2: Reflections (RPM Records). (HP, 13 Jun 19).
