Notes: The Moody Blues' second album, 1967's Days of Future
Passed, was a seminal album in the early history of
progressive rock. Their first concept album, it has a mix of rock
and orchestral elements. In 2023, with The Moody Blues having ended
in 2018, Lodge, the bassist and co-lead vocalist on the original
album, toured playing the whole of the album with his 10,000 Light
Year Band, having begun rehearsals in 2021. There were two spoken
word pieces written by Edge, but performed by Mike Pinder on the
original album, and Lodge had asked Edge to record new recitations
for the tour not long before his death in 2021. Joining Lodge and
the band on the tour was Jon Davison, who married John's daughter
Emily in Dec 2022. Davison had guested on Lodge's previous tours. In
conjunction with the tour, Lodge and the others decided to record
this new version of the album, released digitally 14 Jul 2023 and
physically later.
Note also John's son Kristian, who runs his website, and his
daughter-in-law Inga Lodge (née Wilson) took the cover photo of John
and his wife Kirsten. (HP, 12 Aug 23)
